Composed of 100% pure-pressed hemp oil grown and harvested in Australia, it dries to a hard, clear surface without giving off unpleasant or toxic chemicals. An ideal finish for environmentally-conscious makers and decorators.
As the name suggests, Gilly’s Pure Hemp Oil is completely free of solvents or other chemical additives. It can be used directly on raw wood, giving a deep, rich colour and a silky smooth finish. It can also be used as a sealer over mineral, milk or chalk paints, protecting them against bumps, scrapes, and spills.
Hemp oil is a drying oil, meaning that it polymerises into a hardened water-resistant layer on exposure to oxygen. Application is simple and no smelly solvents are required. The resulting finish is food-safe, so you can apply it to all your wooden kitchen utensils, bowls and toys. Unlike tung oil, Gilly’s Pure Hemp Oil requires no thinning before application.
